Once in the past the front entrance was a street. Therefore, we restored the ‘busy life’ of the town’s main square in the inner courtyard. Tables, small stalls with dainties, inviting smell of coffee (to have it right here or for a take-away), local and foreign drinks will be available for you there.
Less than 100 metres separate our inner courtyard from the main entrance to the Kaunas Town Hall. We have measured that when we first spread a red carpet. The view was incredible!
SADUTĖ Salon. The windows of the ground floor unclose a view to the main Square of the town. Light colours and soft furnishings dominate in the salon. Here you may find an impressive collection of sparkling wine bottles and accessories. Unique wedding rings made by the Lithuanian jewelers are also exhibited here; you should not find that strange as a shop for the newlyweds once functioned here! Delicious coffee, bubbles in the glasses, in Vin Santo glasses, young and elderly ladies and their gentlemen, today’s newspapers, exchange of news – one will find all that at SADUTĖ.
Burgomaster’s Hall. We will open the doors of this ground floor hall to those regular customers who wish to spend their time in a quiet and moderate milieu, who seek for confidentiality (there is a separate entrance into this hall from the inner courtyard. There is also a drive-in for cars). This hall is furnished with authentic, renewed furniture which once belonged to the famous burgomaster J. Vileišis.
SADUTĖ Wine-Cellar. Noncommittal environment, books and magazines, long arched hall… This is a place where spectacles, concerts, ‘non-format‘events, presentations, self-presentations take place. Kaunas citizens and their guests who enjoy not only wine but jazz, dances, discussions as well gather here. The walls of the wine-cellar hide the secrets of the inn that once existed here. We found two bottles (empty – what a pity!) when restoring this hall. One of them had an inscription in Lithuanian “the property of a brewery/ distillery…” the other – an inscription in German “Fur eine Weinflache” (“for one glass of wine”). Where, if not in a wine-cellar, one may eye (and certainly try!) more than one hundred kinds of wine. A unique new wine preservation and pouring system “Le Verre de Vin” allows us to open and offer you more than 40 different kinds of wine in glasses at a time!
We may arrange a festive banquet for 50 people in this hall, an exceptional conference for 70-80 participants. This hall has seen and seated 150 people at free style music events….
SADUTĖ Wine Restaurant. We will welcome guests who enjoy good wine from Sommelier glasses sitting at a table covered with a white tablecloth, looking at the drowsing in the wine cellar bottles, wine and Kaunas historical maps, Renaissance time niches enlaced with hand-made felt grapes to the wine restaurant. Personal attendance and care of a hostess-sommelier, possibility to choose wine not from a book but by ‘’touching” and tasting it in the cellar, tastings of expensive drinks, visits of winemakers, presentations of new dishes, these are the distinctive features of the wine restaurant. 40 guests may be seated on a special occasion here.
A separate 10 guests seating hall is located next to the wine cellar. It has preserved original historical arches and penetralia. If you have more than 10 guests and they are not very much “spoilt” and pretentious, the same number of them could be seated on the original staircase. Wine lessons or just pleasant meetings for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine take place in this small cozy hall.
SADUTĖ Beerhouse. Beer barrels drowning in the duskiness, solid tables and armchairs, reflections of hops on the tables and ceilings, the broadcasting of sport programmes, table games, big servings, possibility to observe the work of the cook… We have tooled up two tables with taps for customers who enjoy controlling the situation themselves or would simply like to be left undisturbed and enjoy a beer. 30 comfortable armchairs are waiting for you in the beerhouse. Presentations and tasting of “men’s drinks” (beer, mead, vodka, samanė (home-made vodka) are held here.
